    • California to tighten emissions standards despite Trump Administration's objection

We have a problem. California wants to continue to tighten emissions regulations to match Obama-era promises mandating a steep rise in fuel efficiency requirements through 2025. The Trump Administration wants a freeze keeping things at 2020 levels until 2026.

This is not likely to end well and likely will end with California learning a hard lesson that they are not their own country.

If you think this just affects Californians, guess again. A dozen other states pledged to follow CARB (California Air Resources Board) guidelines so you may suddenly find yourself quite restricted as to what vehicles you can buy.

The Trump Administration threatened to remove the ability for California to decide its own standards and California is set to fight a White House freeze in court.

      CARB chair Mary Nichols:

Dirty, gas guzzling vehicles are a direct assault on public health, and foreclose our ability to rein in air pollution and greenhouse gases.

California will take all actions to ensure that the smart standards we developed in partnership with the auto industry to cut greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles stay in place
As an auto enthusiast, let's hope California loses this battle before some middle aged lesbian hippie at CARB decides to eliminate cars entirely.

In my industry we have to hop through all the BS California rules they make up. Just costs us money as no one uses all the features they are mandating etc. Because of the size of the California market we have to.

This is just more of the same bull$#@!.

They should stop importing or put tariffs on countries with poor emissions like China for instance.
