• Quickest and fastest VW MQB - MKVII GTI runs 10.1@142 with APR Stage III+ EFR7163 turbo kit

This is just absurd. A MKVII Golf GTI trapping over 140 miles per hour? Believe it. USP Motorsports ran an incredible 10.112 @ 142.76 in the 1/4 mile which just edges the 10.2 Iroz Mototorsports put up.

The trap speed is the real killer here as 142.7 makes this the first MKVII to crack 140 miles per hour. Not only that, this is a FWD GTI. Iroz Motorsport ran 10.2 and hit 136.6 miles per hour in an all wheel drive Golf R.

Additionally, the density altitude for the run was 2128 feet. It is not the weather creating this record.

Congratulations to USP Motorsports on the pass as well as APR for providing the tuning and hardware.

It's worth mentioning the same car trapped even higher earlier in the day at another track.

What was that trap? Do you have that slip as it is the fastest record?

The bar has been risen, again. This past weekend, at Waterfest 23, Tyler Aul, of USP Motorsports, piloted his MK7 GTI into uncharted territory, breaking the 140 MPH barrier at two separate drag strips on the same day. Ultimately, Tyler captured the quarter mile world record for both trap speed and elapsed time, for any MQB platform vehicle anywhere in the world. True to his outspoken nature, he set the record with hundreds of spectators gazing on. It was a sight to be seen as he raced alongside an Alpha 9 GTR, pulling out a better trap and ET to the crowdís delight. Congratulations Tyler!

Tylerís vehicle is a VW MK7 GTI with a 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen 3 engine and DSG Transmission. Unlike the typical record setters on the MQB platform, his vehicle only has front wheel drive and is a non-power pack model. The engine is outfitted with an off the shelf APR EFR7163 Turbocharger System with several new development and prototype parts and software.

The EFR7163 has proven to be shockingly capable. Itís designed for the circuit and daily-driving with excellent transient response, making it a pleasure to drive in all scenarios compared to larger, and laggier turbos often more ideal for drag racing. However, despite the smaller size, it was able to propel the GTI to over 140 MPH in the quarter and clench the record even under less than ideal conditions. Through this exercise, APRís engineers were able to further identify areas for improvement which may result in exciting new hardware and software solutions for our customers.
