    • BMW's motor and purchasing director Markus Duesmann leaves to become CEO of Audi

This kind of thing often happens with the German brands where one head executive is poached by a rival and vice versa. For example, back in 2013 Volkswagen stole AMG's engine guru responsible the M156, M133, and M157 engines.

BMW opposed releasing Markus Duesmann early but allowed him eventually to leave to take the Audi CEO spot. His BMW contract runs through September, 2019.

Duesmann will start in April, 2020 so there is a bit of time before he takes the reigns.

What expertise will the 50 year old Duesmann bring with him? Apparently, clean engine knowledge as VW continues to try to repair its image after dieselgate.
