completely understand what you mean but id assume thats just lack of seat time with the paddle shifters....i did that in the V a few times but after hours on hours in it getting the shift times right its not hard at all for me to catch the shift and not hit the limiter anymore"We need to upgrade your skill before we upgrade your horsepower"

LM is there a slight delay when you click the paddle before is bangs the next gear or as soon as the paddle is fully depressed it bangs the next gear instantly?

Yeah, it would seem that way. To be honest, that's my only complaint about DCT. There is seemingly a VERY small amount of "lag" (not even sure if that's an accurate word for what I am trying to explain) between the rev counter and the actual revs. What I mean by this - is in manual mode, and in a 1st to 2nd shift (seems to happen to me most often here), when you are right about at redline (visually) - the car will hit redline sometimes before you make the shift. When this happens, the shift is "softened" - not sure how else to explain it - it just doesn't feel right - and there is definitely less power than would be after a normal shift...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I asked LM about this - and was curious about D, as it seems more consistent for the 1-2 shift... I usually let the computer do the 1-2 and then I switch to S/M for the rest of the gears. If I practiced, and learned the "error", I could probably bang it every time - but haven't given it enough time or focus to be honest.
With SMG - it was nearly impossible to mess up in this regard, this is one thing that I would say is superior with that transmission.

It's instant - the delay (to me) only occurs after you hit redline accidentally. All other shifts in the normal RPM range are bang on instant - like insanely instant. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

11-27-2012, 01:22 PM #36no, its instant, but the chance of a perfect shift Vs banging the limiter is high in favor of banging it. if you do a PERFECT shift, it will jump the car forward; thats how much acceleration your looking to gain to strive for perfect. if that makes any senseThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. @M&M i think has videos of cars jumping from perfect shifts...If people appreciate a very high level of engineering, a power delivery with excellent response, lots of low-mid rpm torque combined with a powerful non stop top end , appreciate the air to air setup... then this is kit will interest them...

That's a perfect explanation - that's why I always end up hitting the limiter, because I am trying to get that perfect shift.
-
11-27-2012, 01:25 PM #39the chirping tires on the 1st shift and the slight "lag" from traction on the next would be the car jumping forward, if it had the traction. its insanely fun and fast- hence why DCT is way more fun than people give credit to when they compare dct vs manualThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Although I would say they are definitely two different breeds - although as quick as another, they are more dissimilar than not.

squeez what tires do you run? r888 or nt05r , or MT's should be on your car if you are doing any type of racing where bragging rights are involved... any street tire is a waste at your power level
its more about the compound than it is the width of the tire.... 305 should be fine and i know that fits fine cause i ran that size on my 370 when i had it
