Sticky created the thread The 2015 Cayenne S gets boost - Porsche puts their 3.6 liter twin turbo V6 under the hood with 420 horsepower.
" It was just a matter of time and the Cayenne S is now officially ditching its 4.8 liter naturally aspirated V8 for a 3.6 liter V6 twin turbo borrowed from the Macan Turbo. The 3.6 liter twin turbo V6 has 400 horsepower in the Macan Turbo but Posche bumps it slightly with software for the more the larger Cayenne S. It still retains the automatic transmission whereas the motor is paired to a PDK transmission in the Macan.

The V6 also gains 20 horsepower on the V8 it replaces. Torque gains should be considerably larger but Porsche has not published its torque figures for the Cayenne S yet, only the horsepower. If we go by the Macan Turbo the Cayenne S will have at least 406 lb-ft of torque. That means a torque gain of over 37 lb-ft on the V8 with the peak torque coming earlier in the rev range.

More power, more torque, greater performance, and greater fuel economy. It's hard to argue against this move and it was inevitable considering Porsche already made the move for the 2014 model year in the Panamera S although with a 3.0 liter V6 and not the 3.6 liter V6 out of the Macan Turbo. It looks like all future four door Porsche S models will have turbocharged V6 power.

As far as why it's becoming more difficult I look at the same as why country clubs raise their dues each year. It comes in generational chunks of difficulty when it comes to their cars.
If BMW actually wanted to encourage it they wouldn't go to the lengths they do and deny warranty claims the way they do. I had my own warranty fight with BMW and at no point were they 'encouraging' about anything. They were a bunch of pricks actually.

If I told the dealer I planned to supercharge and wanted to build the motor they would void it all right then and there. They encourage you to buy their 'Performance Parts' rather than going to the aftermarket. They just want money. They certainly do not give a damn about giving you the best options to modify your car you own.

They have gotten worse about this, not better. I'd love for BMW to actually encourage modding but their behavior and own parts division is designed now to keep maximum profit for them and actually to cut the aftermarket out. "

I'd need to hear more about the source of the file but from what I've seen with my own BMW's is that BMW wants to keep cars stock until the warranty period is over.

Sticky created the thread Is an E30 M3 DTM car a match for the new 2015 F80 M3 around the track?.
" The E30 M3 released in 1985 was designed with DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters or German Touring Car) racing in mind. The S14 four-cylinder under the hood was designed for professional racing (as M3 engines traditionally have been) where it excelled. The S55 turbo 3.0 liter inline-6 in today's M3 is obviously a much more powerful motor. It is larger than the 2.0-2.5 liter S14 four-cylinder and also turbocharged whereas the S14 is naturally aspirated.

The difference on paper is close to 100 horsepower but in practice it is closer to 200 horses as the new M3 is severely underrated. Horsepower is only one part of this story as the E30 M3 DTM car is much lighter and stripped out for the track. The weight difference is in the 1000 pound range based on a 3562 pound curb weight for the F80 M3.

Can a chassis design that is over three decades old now compete with a brand new and much more powerful M3? Yes. Not only does the 1992 E30 M3 DTM car compete with the 2015 F80 M3, it beats it around the track. Keep in mind that back in the 80's and early 90's DTM cars actually represented their production counterparts.

The E30 M3 does a 1:09.1 laptime around the Hockenheim to the F80 M3 1:13.1. A four second difference which is simply stunning. The new F80 M3 is a great car but it hardly makes the classic M's obsolete. Namely on the racetrack which the BMW Motorsport division used to design their M3's for. "

Each map update takes a while to do and any emails outside of map updates in most cases by far are responded almost instantly. One thing to understand is that our tuning services are open and unlimited when it comes to reviews/tweaks over time. What happens is you have new customers coming all the time that you have to tend to but you also have customers whose tunes you've done a year ago coming in for reviews/feedback on their previously built maps and possible updates. It can be overwhelming at times but again we feel we're managing it very well and doing as best as we can but that doesn't mean we can't always improve like any other business. Thanks @Nugs, repped.
