" Interesting news here although not all that surprising. The Macan getting a four-cylinder motor makes sense as the model will slot in right below the Macan S
. The interesting part though is that Porsche does not seem to be interested in simply borrowing the 2.0 liter FSI motor VW and Audi both share. Porsche is developing their own boxer four-cylinder. Why? This motor will likely be the engine that has been rumored to go into the Cayman and Boxster
There are reports that the motor will get a 2.5 liter variant with up to 350 horsepower for a Cayman Turbo model
although that would not be the state of tune one would see the motor in for use in the Macan. A 2.0 liter version with under 300 horses would likely be what the Macan would get but Porsche is likely designing this motor with flexibility in mind for multiple models. The 3.0 V6 in the Macan S gets bumped to 3.6 liters for the Macan Turbo for example.
Whatever the final specifications may be a new turbocharged boxer four-cylinder is coming from Porsche.
