Now, with 581 wheel horsepower one would expect a bit more performance on the drag strip but the issue is the owner was running on large 21 inch rims and street tires. It is almost pointless to go to the drag strip when the vehicle is not prepped for it. This is a high torque, high horsepower rear wheel drive tubocharged V8 car. M owners struggle launching much less powerful M cars at the drag strip let alone one where so much torque hits so hard and fast.
Basically, it's a waste to show up on the strip with this vehicle without proper drag tires and wheels. Time then needs to be spent explaining to people who do not understand the impact of proper rubber as to how it correlates to the 60 foot time and then overall elapsed time. Those familiar with drag racing however will see the 60 foot times in the timeslips below and realize that even with a 1.7X 60 foot this car is in the low 11 second range and with some practice (and good weather) could break into the 10's.
